Reigate County School Old Girls should also look at the photos of Reigate Lodge in Church Street as the school was built in the grounds of this estate. The Lodge's entrance gates remain as the school's gates. Old Girls may like to contact rcsoldgirl@yahoo.co.uk

To EJ from Ottawa. Have you read Coin Street Chronicles yet, by Gwen Southgate? Her London grammar school was evacuated to Reigate and shared premises with Reigate County School for Girls. There are some fascinating passages in it about being taught in the caves during air raids, and the long walk down the dark driveway during black outs. Read the reviews on Amazon.com (not so many on Amazon.co.uk), it's a great read. |
